Our Services

Positive Behaviour Support

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centered approach focused on understanding why specific behaviours are occurring. The aim is to equip learners and their caregivers with the necessary skills to effectively self-advocate.

PBS services are comprehensive and include an initial assessment, collaborative goal setting, and continuous goal tracking. Services are typically conducted across various settings, including the home and school.

Each learner receives a bespoke program, developed by a Board Certified Behaviour Analyst (BCBA), with specific goals to be achieved over the plan period. The most effective PBS model is holistic, involving a multi-professional team that may include caregivers, school personnel, and other specialists.

Focused Support

For many learners and families, a comprehensive approach may not be necessary. If you find yourself working through behavioural challenges affecting one aspect of life a focused, short-term program may be more appropriate. Our BCBA has assisted families with the following:

  • Sleep challenges

  • Toilet training

  • Transition challenges (both transitions from the home and within the home)

  • Family dynamics (new siblings, flexibility in the home, and ensuring positive family connections)

  • Community outings

    • increasing comfort and independence in restaurants and grocery stores

    • beginning participation in extra-curricular activities (swimming, tae-kwon-do, ballet, gymnastics, etc.)

    • increasing safety awareness across settings

Sometimes, a full, comprehensive behavioural program isn't what's needed. If you're tackling specific behavioural challenges affecting just one area of life, a focused, short-term program may be a better fit.

Our BCBA offers focused assistance in areas including:

  • Routine and Skill Building:

    • Sleep challenges

    • Toilet training

    • Managing transitions (both leaving the home and moving between activities within the home)

  • Family Life and Dynamics:

    • Adjusting to new siblings or changes

    • Promoting flexibility within the home

    • Ensuring positive family connections

  • Community Integration and Safety:

    • Increasing comfort and independence during outings to restaurants and grocery stores

    • Supporting initial participation in extra-curricular activities (such as swimming, tae-kwon-do, ballet, gymnastics)

    • Improving safety awareness across different environments

School Consultation

When behavioral challenges impede a learner's success in school, despite the best efforts of both schools and caregivers, a crucial element may be missing.

In these situations, specialized behavioral consultation and intervention can be essential. Our Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) offers targeted school consultation:

  • Assessment: The BCBA observes and assesses the learner's behavior directly within the school environment.

  • Analysis: They determine the function and underlying reasons for the challenging behavior.

  • Intervention: They collaborate with the school to develop and implement a bespoke Behavior Intervention Plan designed specifically to facilitate the learner's success focused on building skills and increasing regulation within the learning environment.

  • Support and training: They provide training to school staff on intervention strategies and monitor student progress.
